Hysteroscopy
The gynecologic procedure that helps in the diagnosis and treatment of problems in the uterus is known as hysteroscopy. Like endoscopy, hysteroscopy also uses a thin tube of a telescope fitted with a camera and light at one end, to probe into the uterus and to transmit back clear images, which can be viewed by the gynecologist on a monitor.
Hysteroscopy can be used to diagnose precancerous lesions, polyps, cause of infertility, collect tissue samples, menopausal issues, vaginal bleeding, and for PAP tests. In this procedure, the patient is laid down on a table with raised feet, allowing the gynecologist access to the vagina. The hysteroscope is inserted in the vagina and the images inside can be seen on the monitor. The procedure is helpful in precise diagnoses and various surgical interventions too.
